Lingfield is a delightful village in Surrey with a long history and some notable attractions. The Church of St. Peter dates back to the 14th century and takes pride of place within a conservation area that contains many historic buildings and structures. Among them is the village cage, last occupied by a poacher and near that is the Old Cage pub, dating back to 1592, just one of the excellent traditional pubs in the village. The main attraction for locals and visitors to Lingfield however is Lingfield Park racecourse and there are Lingfield races to delight any horseracing fan.

Occupying a 450 acre estate, Lingfield Park was established in 1890 as primarily a venue for jump racing but soon after staged many flat races too and today continues to host both during the appropriate seasons.

Horse racing at Lingfield is therefore an all year round attraction and is just one of five racecourses in the country with an all weather track.

The new synthetic track forms just a part of the recent developments of the course with other new features including the re-laying of the back straight on the flat race turf course, the inclusion of a golf course within the grounds, and the construction of a new £5.5 million grandstand, which incorporates a full range of raceday hospitality options. The new track has proved its success by staging a recent race won by the most highly rated all-weather horse in history, Matsunosuke.

Unsurprisingly, course specialists do well in Lingfield races held on the Polytrack surface, which is very fast indeed and makes for thrilling races. While best known for the winter events held on the new surface, Lingfield also hosts two Classic Trials in May on turf and these have become good indicators for the Derby and the Oaks. The course at Lingfield is very similar to that of Epsom Downs, particularly on the downhill section before the home straight and Slip Anchor, Teenoso, High Rise, and Kayhasi all had Epsom success after doing well at Lingfield.

With one of the busiest annual racing fixture lists of any racecourse in Europe, enjoying a raceday at Lingfield is easy and there are many ways in which to make the most of the day at the racecourse.

Discounts are available for pre-booked groups of 10 or more persons and student and OAP concessions are also available. Up to two children under 16 years can get in for free when accompanied by a paying adult, making family fun days out at Lingfield races particular popular.
